ABOUT JUDGE BENTON

With a distinguished career culminating in her appointment to the Fulton Superior Court bench by Governor Brian P. Kemp in December 2023, and officially taking office on January 10, 2024, Judge Alice Benton brings an extensive thirty-year trial background to her role. Her experience spans roles as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in Fulton County and a civil attorney in private practice, where she led her own firm specializing in family law.

 

A lifelong Georgian, Judge Benton graduated from The University of Georgia School of Law with honors in 1994 following receiving her bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University. Her dedication to the rule of law extends beyond the courtroom, demonstrated by her active engagement in legal organizations such as the State Bar of Georgia, the Charles L. Weltner Inn of Court, the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers,  and the Atlanta Bar Association.

Outside of her legal career, Judge Benton is committed to community service through involvement with St. Philip’s Cathedral, Junior League of Atlanta Inc., NCL and other charitable activities. She also contributes to educational advancement through her participation in the Parents’ Council Boards at Furman University and Rhodes College.

CLEAR THE BACKLOG OF COVID-19 CASES

Citizens deserve to have their civil disputes and criminal trials handled in a timely manner. Judge Benton accomplishes this by reducing the number of old cases, both civil and criminal, through a combination of hard work and experience.

COMMON SENSE APPROACH TO SENTENCING

Judge Benton holds violent offenders accountable for their crimes, while recognizing that non-violent offenders who wish to rehabilitate themselves can re-enter society as productive members of our community.

PRIORITIZING FULTON COUNTY FAMILIES

Judge Benton is committed to serving the best interests of children and families in need by expeditiously providing compassionate and prompt attention to the families of Fulton County.
